Painting with watercolor is extremely fun and easy, especially when you have an original graphite drawing by the lead artist of Considered Cloth, Maggie Leininger, as your template. The kit comes with a set of artist-grade watercolors, a small brush, a pan for your water, and a mat for your finished work so you can display it in your home or office.

Patternate: Watercolor Kit

  • Patternate (a blend of pattern and collaborate) is inspired by conceptual artist Sol LeWitt, who understood that marks, lines, and drawings made by one person are distinct from those of another, even if they are the same drawing. He created over 1,270 wall drawings executed by others from diagrams he provided. The wall drawings existed for the duration of the exhibition and were then destroyed, adding an ephemeral quality to the work. The drawings could be redrawn at another location as long as the proportion remained the same. Similarly, I’m creating an original graphite drawing (these are hand-drawn, not printed) for you to complete! Based on my deep investigation of pattern, color, and transparency, these drawings can be completed using the watercolor set included in each kit (though feel free to use your medium of choice, such as markers, color pencils, etc.). Instructions on how to paint with watercolor are included along with an invitation to share your completed work on our gallery site at @tenfoldprojects.
